Medical Cannabis & Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

In the 8th episode in Apollo’s Medical Cannabis Now education series, we speak on a subject dear to our hearts: Autism Spectrum Disorder and Medical Cannabis. Apollo’s physician, Dr. Paula Williams joins us for a guest appearance and shares her insight and experience having helped hundreds of patients with ASD over the past 5 years. 

Previously, there were 4 separate conditions that included Asperger’s Syndrome, Autistic Disorder, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, & Pervasive Development Disorder. They’ve now been all categorized by the DSM (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) as falling within a spectrum of autism (ASD). This scale allows for a better perspective for observation and alleviates the quest for a specific diagnosis. 

We dive into all of this in more detail about treatment options, including medical cannabis, and review case studies of patients that we have seen here at Apollo have found some relief with medical cannabis and managing their symptoms.
